Business Development Director
To be aligned with the business and how it should be represented, makes me very happy in my role
The value which most stands out would be pioneering. As a business, we’ve developed a much more innovative and transformational approach bidding for new business and which differentiates our offering against the competition. I think we’ve been brave to set a vision that delivers better value for our customers and provides an improved experience for our customer’s customers.
I’ve worked across both family-owned and large global businesses, and there’s only been one other company where I’ve felt a cultural fit between myself personally and the goals of the organisation. To be aligned with the business and how it should be represented, makes me very happy in my role.
The best part of my role is when I get to engage with customers, which I love. I also get a huge buzz from making deals and winning new business, so being able to interact with customers on a regular basis, gives me that motivation and drive to succeed. It wouldn’t be possible without the support I get from my amazing colleagues in the Sales and Solutions team.
In the 1990’s, I was the director of a business which grew significantly over a 12 year period, from 16 employees to over 300. We built a brand new factory in the city of Manchester and were responsible for supporting the local economy by providing jobs to 320 employees – which is something that to this day I am still very proud of.
