Arvato gives back to local community initiatives in Warwick

15th June 2022 · Arvato · News

Following a recent move to remote working for our employees in Warwick, we’ve supported several colleagues, local community initiatives and charities by donating our excess furniture and catering equipment so they can be put to good use.

These include Shine a Light, Cawston Grange Primary School and Way Ahead Support Services. You can find out more about how we’ve helped and the impact this will have on people who access their services below:

Shine a Light

Shine a Light is a charity that supports families of children affected by cancer in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. Their services include home visits, clinics at hospital, counselling sessions, social events and day trips for families, drop-in sessions, holistic therapies, events for teenagers and tuition sessions. We’ve donated most of our café equipment, which they will be repurposing for their new premises to support the families they work with.

Sam Schoolar, CEO of Shine a Light, commented:

The donation of the kitchen is a brilliant asset to us, which will enable us to cater in-house to offer hot and cold food to families visiting our centre.

The ability to self-cater will save us money we would currently have to spend to bring in catering/take away food, meaning we can re-direct that funding to other services we offer.

Additionally, and perhaps even more importantly, being able to self-cater for everyday visitors and events adds to our provision of the home-from-home, kitchen table environment that we strive to create. This is so that families feel safe and comfortable whilst visiting us, enabling them to relax and spend as much time as they would like with us.

We are extremely grateful to all the team at Arvato and wish them all the best in their journey ahead.

Cawston Grange Primary School

Some of our café equipment has also gone to Cawston Grange Primary School, based in Rugby.

Lindsay Walsh, Friends of Cawston Grange Primary School said:

We are extremely grateful to Arvato for their generous donation of kitchen equipment and consumable supplies. The fridge will be used in our new wellbeing hub which we have created in response to the surge in poor mental health in our pupil population, post Covid.

Our children’s kitchen will benefit from the crockery and cooking utensils, and the other cooking/serving equipment will be invaluable for our community BBQ and pop-up café which raise crucial funds for our school.

Once again, a huge thank you to Arvato and especially to Irene Lines (Facilities Manager) for organising the donation.

Way Ahead Support Services

Way Ahead is a not-for-profit organisation based in Leamington Spa which provides person-centred care and support to vulnerable individuals. We’ve donated some of our cutlery and crockery to the charity, which they’ll be using to replace items in their supported living buildings, and also during the one-day activity services they provide.

Barbara Winterburn, Senior Administrator, Way Ahead Support Services, commented:

Every item that Arvato so kindly donated has been used by those who we support and our staff, and importantly saved from landfill.

Supporting vulnerable people, whether in the community or Supported Living, is what Way Ahead do 365 days a year, and working with Arvato has enabled us to provide much needed replacement kitchen items and given a very happy man the chance to wear brand new clothes when he performs on stage later this year.

Thank you for supporting us and so kindly donating the items, Way Ahead really appreciate your support.

The transition to remote working follows the team successfully operating flexibly during and post-pandemic, and we know that many of our colleagues have enjoyed being able to spend more time at home and a better work-life balance. To support our employees with setting up their home offices, we’ve also given away desks and chairs to those who wanted them.

Thank you to our Warwick Management and Facilities Teams who have organised these donations and for ensuring colleagues are well equipped for home working. You can find out more about our other initiatives and how we’re having a positive social impact here.
