Arvato helps local children continue their education during lockdown

Our Shared Service Centre in Swansea has donated spare IT equipment to a local school, Pentrehafod Comprehensive, to support students with home-learning during the national lockdown.

We’ve given 100 keyboards to the school, which is approximately ten miles from our office, alongside a further donation from Swansea University.

The equipment will be valuable as some pupils have been unable to previously engage with remote learning, as they do not have personal laptops or desktop computers. The keyboards will now provide an alternative solution for students to be able to plug them into their PlayStation or Xbox to access the school’s MS Teams application and learning hub. This will allow more children to have an equal opportunity to continue their education at home, no matter what their working environment may be.

A spokesperson from Pentrehafod School said, “I’d like to say a massive thank you to Arvato and Swansea University for donating the keyboards for our students to access online learning via their games consoles. They’re now all set up and ready to go!”

Mathew Copp, Director of Operations for Central Government, Arvato CRM Solutions, commented “We were really glad of the opportunity to support Pentrehafod Comprehensive School and their pupils as they engage with remote learning during these challenging times.  I am hoping that we have contributed to making these lessons more convenient and who knows maybe one day some of these pupils will join our team at Arvato.”

Arvato has previously supported other community projects in the local area, including donating thousands of pounds to a food bank and employees purchasing gifts to ensure over 50 underprivileged children had presents this Christmas. We’ve also supported Swansea East MP, Carolyn Harris’ Kids Lunch Club initiatives aimed at making sure students don’t go hungry during school holidays.
